How to apply for medical treatment

If you are a foreign citizen and want to travel to Russia for medical treatment at S. Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Federal State Institution, you should start by contacting the Medical Services Export Department. Our English, French and Arabic speaking staff will help you with all the necessary steps to apply for treatment.

Your request will then be processed in the shortest possible time and you will receive a personal reply. In order to provide you with a very precise case investigation, we will need to know which services you wish to receive at S. Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Institution. Regardless of whether you are looking for a diagnosis, a second opinion or a treatment, we will provide you with an estimate cost based on your inquiry and the information provided. In some cases, this estimate will only cover the diagnosis as a first step. We will send you an appointment letter that you can use to apply for Visa. Please note that the decision to grant or refuse visas is made by the Russian authorities. The appointment letter that we provide to foreign patients does not guarantee the issuance of the visa.


What to bring with you

Please bring the following items with you to your appointment:

  • your appointment letter
  • your medicines or eye drops in their original containers
  • glasses and contact lenses
  • sunglasses, because some patients find these helpful after they have had drops put in their eyes

On arrival

In the Institution, a staff member will check your details and let the Medical Services Export Department (MSED) know that you have arrived. The first examinations will then be performed at the MSED of S. Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Institution. This is also where the further course of treatment will be planned, and it will be decided which department of the Institution is to receive you.


Language support

We will be pleased to provide you an interpreter from the staff of the MSED. He or she will always accompany you to your appointments and examinations at S. Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Institution in order to translate and clarify any medical questions.


Accommodation

During examination and recovery period, you can stay at our hotel complex located in the territory of S. Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Institution. Our hotel complex allows patients to enjoy a stay at a unique establishment that provides a hotel-quality experience and a high level of personal service.


Children’s appointments

If you choose for your child to be treated at S. Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Federal State Institution, we will send you a letter providing necessary information on your child’s appointment with us. Please read this letter carefully to make sure you have understood all the details.

It is imperative that the general health of your child allows him to travel long distances. If your child suffers from any kind of chronic disease, we recommend carrying his doctor’s prescription on hand, as well as the necessary medications. Furthermore, your child must have an International Certificate of Vaccination (ICV) and a measles vaccination certificate to undergo the examination in our clinic.

If your child is not accompanied by a parents or guardian with legal parental responsibility, a notarized consent form signed by one of the parents must be provided.


What to expect at your child’s appointment

During your visit you will see a number of experts who may perform a range of tests to assess your child’s condition. These tests and examinations can be lengthy, and you must expect to spend several hours at the hospital.

Please note that eye drops are often administered to enlarge the pupils, and this may blur your child’s vision for a couple of hours after the appointment. Your child may also be more sensitive to light.

  • any medication your child is currently taking
  • your child’s glasses, if they wear them
